I was going for the "fascist with magic...Rats. I was going for the "fascist with magic underpants" gag but you beat me to it.

To me there is a huge difference between the two men, the philosophies they represent, and what each is likely to do in office.

To me the flaw with Romney and the conservative movement is their unwavering faith in the unregulated free market, in spite of whopping historical evidence of the pernicious aspects of vulture capitalism. (Yes, I know this is your view of him as Oedipus.) Any person with a working knowledge of American history knows it's just the 19th c robber barons all over again.

This flaw is serious enough that it could put the whole economy, the middle-class, and the poor in jeopardy. Romney will repeat the mistakes of George W. Bush and Herbert Hoover, and I'm willing to lay a bet right now if he's elected that in four years the country will be in worse economic shape than it was in 2008.

Also, I simply do not trust a man whose biggest career goal in business was to make as much money as possible, regardless of what happened to the businesses his company bought. That is the definition of "private equity." "The love of money is the root of all evil," says the Bible. "And the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things." Those whose sole goal is the accumulation of wealth will figure out ways to justify anything they do.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Obama is reelected because he will then be free of further worry about re-election, and some of that apparent "dithering" may disappear as he formulates his second term goals, esp. since he recently realigned with Bill Clinton, the master of getting things done. And keep in mind that in spite of Obama's less intense style, he DID get health care passed, he did take out Osama Bin Laden, and the economy didn't tank.

Not sure this is what you wanted. P.S., I wanna be in your class!

DCLGrammarMavenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12388749695685603616noreply@blogger.com
